It is a little known fact that many of the biblical prophets were astrologers. While this ancient science has been largely abused and misrepresented over the centuries, it stands that when presented in its accurate and appropriate context, astrology is one of the greatest tools for understanding the movements of the Divine Light within the world of form.
Now added as an exciting new workshop to the Essene Priesthood Program, Shamanic Astrology teaches how the archetypal world translates through starlight onto the earth plane manifesting as the phenomena of our collective consciousness and the textures of our daily lives.
Shamanic Astrology is an evolving system sourced by Daniel Giamario in the early 1980’s. This system has emerged from the direct experience of Daniel, other students and practitioners of Shamanic Astrology in their relationship to the unfolding mysteries.
The “as above, so below” philosophy of the school and its key concepts will be discussed, including the position that Shamanic Astrology is not deterministic or causal and that the nature of the energies of different planetary cycles is neither good nor bad.
The Seven Principles of Shamanic Astrology
- Shamanic Astrology acknowledges the truth: As above, so below. As within, so without.
- Shamanic Astrology is experiential and earth-centered. (Practitioners learn to read the sky with the naked eye.)
- Shamanic Astrology is ceremonial, participatory, and holds a mythic perspective.
- Shamanic Astrology is inspired by the death and rebirth motif.
- Shamanic Astrology trains practitioners to track and understand planetary cycles and their relationship to the process of initiation.
- Shamanic Astrology values the totality of the human experience with all its light and shadow, equally honoring evolution and involution.
- Shamanic Astrology especially values the Divine Feminine, the Circle of Grandmothers, and that the “Earth Mother” is ultimately whom we serve at this Turning of the Ages.
The state of the world and of the culture here at the Turning of the Ages, the end and beginning of a great 26,000 year cycle, suggests that the time is right for a greater knowledge of the Shamanic Astrology paradigm.

About the Hosts – Daniel Giamario & Cayelin K Castell
Daniel Giamario is the Director of the Shamanic Astrology Mystery School and creator of the Shamanic Astrology paradigm. He joins together an academic background in Comparative Philosophy and Religion, with teaching meditation in two worldwide organizations, and extensive world travel. Daniel learned astrology in the late 1960’s and was part of Dane Rudhyar’s humanistic astrological movement in the 1970s. After a vision quest experience on Mount Shasta in 1981, his astrological vision and spiritual path became more earth centered and a shamanically oriented astrology was born. For many years, his specialty has been connecting astrology to the night sky at secluded locations and sacred sites to directly experience “As Above So Below”. He has been a full time astrological consultant since 1984.
Shamanic Astrology has evolved as a rich blend of psychological, mythological, spiritual, and shamanistic elements, specifically designed to assist in the unfoldment of the individual’s life purpose and in navigating this pivoltal point of the Turning of the Ages.
In the early 1990s Daniel Giamario, with the help of Cayelin Castell, began the Shamanic Astrology Mystery School, a land based, nomadic, and virtual curriculum for training counseling and therapeutic professionals in the use of the most important astrological tools and techniques. By the end of 2006, 36 persons had graduated as certified Shamanic Astrologers.
Daniel’s first book, The Shamanic Astrology Handbook, is available and a variety of other Shamanic Astrology books are in development. He has written numerous articles for Mountain Astrologer magazine and other publications. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Daniel traveled extensively, teaching workshops all over the country in over thirty locations. He currently is traveling less, except for regularly scheduled events in the Shamanic Astrology Mystery School curriculum.
Daniel lives in Tucson, Arizona and is available for personal and phone consultations, lectures and workshops. Daniel Giamario is a lively and stimulating radio and television guest and has hosted his own radio show on the Seventh Wave Network.

"As a co-founder of the Shamanic Astrology Mystery School, I assisted Daniel in developing The Shamanic Astrology Certification Program originally under the umbrella of The Harbingers of the Turning of the Ages.
On December 23, 2007, underneath the rising Full Moon beside retrograde Mars, we ceremonially birthed The New Shamanic Astrology Mystery school under its own organizational structure and impending non-profit status.
